Guide to reading a blog!

Blogs have some gadgets and third party services so that the owners can get some feedback from their audience.I'm gonna tell you how to use these things!

Blog archieve:This is something you should first search when you land up on a blog because this contains the titles of all the posts on the blog posted in a month or on a day!

Rss:After clicking on the 'Site Feed' link on the blog you'll be taken to a Feedburner URL, which you can access from any RSS Reader or Live Bookmark of your choice.

Blog Search box:Blogs do have google search boxes by adsense by search but to search more effectively on the blog itself you should use the search box at the top left of the blog(navbar) it may not be there is the owner has disabled it!

Labels:Labels are handy if you blog about a lot of different subjects, since readers can then choose to view all of your posts on, say, dancing at once. Or politics, or knitting, or whatever you happen to be writing about. If you have a team blog, you could also give each member their own label, so you could easily read all the posts by any one of them.

Become a follwer:If you see a option like 'follow this blog'then activiting that when get you in the list of people following the blog. You'll get the updates on the blog in your blogger profile at the bottom.

The New Age Fermi Job Interview.

If you remove 3 strands of hair from your head, how many remain? How many hours will it santa claus take to travel from the north pole if he decides to visit the Taj Mahal, this year, for christmas...such questions are being asked my interviewers to gauge their candidate's analytical and logic skills.
Typical questions like "how is your experience related to this job?" and "why are you leaving you current job?" which have a usually have a fixed pattern of answers hardly challenge the candidate's analytical and logic skills which are need in today's corporate life believe the recruiters.

The 2 main concerns regarding these questions are :
1) The interview subject will feel pressured and not perform well and
2) The subject may have heard a similar question before.

Why called fermi puzzles?
In the 1940s and 1950s Enrico fermi used to challenge his university of chicago students with 'Fermi questions'.Named after him,a 'fermi problem' characteristically involves making logical assumptions to mostly hypothetical problems that seem difficult to calculate given amount of restricted information available in hand.

Some fermi questions for you:
Q:What is the annual requirement of golf balls in India?
ANS:The candidate’s approach involved identifying the number of golf courses and clubs in India, the number of golfers and an average consumption of golf balls per member. The methodology used in the formulation of the solution was so apt that it sounded more logical than the real answer itself and he was hired!”

Q:How much does India weigh?
ANS:We think of countries as having areas, but not volume. In this case, you need to measure the volume if you need a near accurate answer. One approach is to say that India is a wedge-shaped country whose volume extends from the surface all the way down to the center of the earth or you can even say that India, as part of the earth, is orbiting freely in space and is thus weightless. Both are reasonable ways of handling the question.

Q: the Axis powers won World War II, who came second?
ANS:The actual answer is simple, you either win a war or you lose!

Q:How many credit cards are there in the world?
Ans:There are approximately 6 billion people in the world.Lets assume that a third live in areas where they cannot get credit cards (eg:rural areas, poverty stricken areas, etc).Of the 4 billion remaining, lets assume 3 quarters are adults.of the 3 billion adults,a third doesn't carry credit (say they have bad credit cards or they don't believe in credit cards, are unemployed, etc).Of the 2 billion left who carry credit cards, each carries an average of 3 cards (visa,Master card,America express)
Result:There are 6 billion credit cards in the world.

JT in google search results!

No tips in this post but just to celebrate this blog's mention as a result in the www.google.co.in search results on the very 1st page that too on the same day I posted the particular post.I don't know how people feel about this but all bloggers would really understand the encouragement this provides its the 1st sign of the efforts being paid off!..wwwoooooow!!

Brain training:Enhancing logic skills and reasoning.

Tennis players have that hand longer which they use to play,in the same way footballers have strong legs and this is not because of this games but because of the extra exercise these games give certain parts of the body.Like every body part the brain can also be made strong to think in a more logical and reasoning manner. This is very important for students who are exposed to competitive exams mostly containing multiple choice questions and also for programmers and software engineers who have to come up with computer code to design PC applications.Along with healthy diet and exercise puzzle solving help alot in forcing a person to think and tap the logic center of the brain.Certain puzzles help build mathematical skills while others include taking into consideration various conditions mentioned and cancel out all possible wrong answers.

Brain working:
The human brain requires a certain amount of energy and oxygen to work and stay active for carrying out various functions of receiving signals from different parts of the body-eyes,ears etc taking note of body's health and ordering the heart, liver to function properly the brain even carries out breathing and remembering things important to us.Among everything the brain use least energy in thinking because people don't do it on a wide basis, its only during studying or solving something which makes people think. Many students take course to mugging up answers without understanding what it really means. That is why exposing the puzzles develops the brain's logic center to a great extent helping in regeneration of cells at a faster pace..studies show that solving cross-word puzzle increases the brain's energy and oxygen absorbing rate by a great deal.

Importance:
Logic skills have a high value in IT industry and recently in other fields as top firms and employers use puzzles termed 'fermi puzzles' to evaluate the skills of the candidate.Imagination, mathematics as well as physics are tools to crack such mind boggling puzzles which can get you employed.

Updating:Getting content for your blog.

Create a blog in 3 simple steps says blogger but what after that???You have to find posts, articles or write them, research them to check if the data is right then try to get traffic to your blog to read and appreciate or criticize for you have created, from search engines, other blogs, link building,SEO.If you wanna make $$ then for that you have to use and research keywords,ad placements,ctr-clicks-cpm.To put all this together you have to select a blog template from more thousand different free choices or create your own for arranging page elements and widgets your way!.Hold on,among all these parameters the most important is what I mentioned first that is 'posts-content-niche' whatever you call it but producing it time and again is not difficult but a lengthy long term process which makes most of the bloggers lose interest and move to something else...which is absolutely fine!

Importance:Content decides the fate of your blog or website because it is this FREQUENTLY UPDATED content thats going to bring the search engines bots and crawlers to your web space, because the more the frequency of posting the quicker your site is gonna be crawled. You may put efforts for link building also as its google's principle in ranking results but it won't help in the long run without fresh content time and again.

Creating, getting content:Yes there are many sites offering free articles and stuffs but duplicate content on the web makes you go down in the search rankings so this way of getting content is a lil bit risky. As most of bloggers you should also choose something to blog on and then research over the different aspects of you topic from other sites and material and then sit and compile it giving all the important points for your readers and try to keep it as short as possible without compromising on the quality and then you can provide links and mention all your sources from where you got the inputs.
